“The Arab Image Foundation is a non-profit organization established in Beirut in 1997. Its mission is to collect, preserve and study photographs from the Middle East, North Africa and the Arab diaspora.” The AIF also has a library open to visitors.
Contemporary Image Collective (CIC) – Cairo, Egypt
CIC is an independent non-profit art initiative. “CIC has a special interest in the many urgent roles of the photographic image within society and media. Through CIC PhotoSchool we provide courses, workshops, and technical and professional facilities, aimed at local and regional capacity to develop a broad and critically effective visual media landscape.”
Dar al Mussawir – Beirut, Lebanon
“Dar Al Mussawir is a multi-functional space housing a dark room, photo printing facilities, gallery space, a library of books and material on photography, a studio, and a room for photography training workshops.”

"East Wing is an international platform for photography, founded in Doha, Qatar. We present new perspectives on topics that matter through pioneering photography and art. We originate from the Middle East, yet we curate and commission contemporary photography projects all around the world. East Wing presents these projects at exhibitions, art fairs, educational events, and in publications."
Middle East Photograph Preservation Iniiative (MEPPI)
MEPPI is a strategic initiative to promote the preservation and awareness of photograph collections in the broad Middle East, from North Africa and the Arab Peninsula through Western Asia.

International Photo Gathering – Aleppo, Syria
“This annual Aleppo event is an international photography exhibit and festival accompanied by activities such as lectures, workshops, and musical concerts. International and local artists come together to show their work and participate in the activities.” NOTE: Although war in Syria disrupted the 2012 gathering, Issa Touma and the Le Pont Organization were still able to install and open a small part of the planned exhibition.
